TSWA Releases All-State Softball Teams
Lady Mustangs, Sandiettes Well Represented

EAST TEXAS – The Texas Sports Writers Association released its All State selections on Saturday, July 1 and the Class AA team quite a few names familiar to area softball fans.
The Class 1A State Champion Slocum Lady Mustangs had four players selected for Second Team All-State honors while the Grapeland Sandiettes had one First Team and two Honorable Mention selections.
Grapeland Sandiette Cadie Belle Currie was selected for first team honors as a pitcher. The freshman phenom had a record of 21-8 and the season, with an ERA of 0.977 ERA. Currie had 200 strikeouts in 157 innings pitched to go along with two perfect games and three no-hitters.
At the plate, she hit .425 with 36 RBI and only struck out eight times in 96 plate appearances. Currie had a .521 on-base percentage and led the team in walks with 16.
The Slocum Lady Mustangs dominated the second team All-State selections and it stated with the Class A State Tournament MVP, Jalyn Fletcher.
Fletcher was selected for second team honors as a pitcher. The sophomore was 12-0 on the season and 6-0 in the playoffs with a 2.21 ERA. Fletcher had 45 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched innings pitched.
At the plate, she hit .619, with four RBI and 14 runs scored. Fletcher had a .692 on-base percentage and an .810 slugging percentage.
Joining her on the second team were Lady Must
angs Briley Evers, Courtney January and Taylor Clark.
Evers was selected for second team All-State honors as a catcher. The junior had a batting average of .600, an on-base percentage of .636 and a slugging percentage of .800. Evers was also selected to the Class A All-State tournament team.
January was selected for second team All-State honors at second base. The Slocum sophomore had a .571 batting average with nine runs scored and five RBI. January had a .625 on-base percentage, a .619 slugging percentage and was also selected to the Class A All-State tournament team.
Clark was selected for second team All-State honors in the outfield. Also a sophomore, Clark had a .476 batting average with nine runs scored and eight RBI. She had a .522 on-base percentage, a .905 slugging percentage and was also selected to the Class A All-State tournament team.
Grapeland’s Taylor Mullen and Diamond Maines-Dunn were selected to the Honorable Mention All-State teams.
Mullen was chosen at the shortstop position. The senior Sandiette had a batting average of .600, scored 43 runs scored was 39-39 on stolen base attempts. Mullen had an on-base percentage of .640, a slugging percentage of .689 and was District Co-MVP.
Maines-Dunn, a sophomore, was selected for Honorable Mention honors in the outfield. She had a batting average of .500 with 36 runs scored and 12 sacrifice bunts. Maines-Dunn was also 24-25 in stolen base attempts.
