Crockett ISD to host Back-to-School Extravaganza, Open House onThursday

CROCKETT — Crockett Independent School District will welcome students and families back for the 2026-27 school year with its annual Back-to-School Extravaganza and campus open houses Thursday, Aug. 6, combining student registration, family engagement, school information and community resources into one evening.Campus open houses will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by the Back-to-School Extravaganza from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Crockett High School Dome. The overlapping schedule allows teachers to participate in both events.

During open house, parents will have the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher, complete required paperwork and receive information to help prepare for the upcoming school year.

Families will be asked to sign campus attendance sheets, complete required Title I documentation, including Eco-Dis/FERPA forms and parent-school compacts, and receive a printed entry ticket for each student. Those tickets will serve as admission to the extravaganza and will also be entered into drawings for door prizes.

District PEIMS representatives will also be stationed at each campus to assist families with student registration. Families who complete registration during open house will receive a special redticket that enters them into drawings for $500 H-E-B gift cards. Families who have already completed pre-registration will automatically be included in those drawings.

District officials said the event is designed to encourage families to complete registration and maintain current contact informationwhile helping the district meet Title I compliance requirements.

The evening also gives students and parents access to school staff, support services and community organizations before the first day of classes.

Inside the dome, district departments will provide information about academics, student services and extracurricular opportunities. Booths will feature representatives from campus administrations, counseling services, transportation, nursing, career and technical education, athletics, special services, Title I programs, school safety, early childhood education, human resources, Communities in Schools, TCHATT mental health services, parenting resources and more.

Students and families can also visit school clubs and organizations, including the Booster Club, Spanish Club, cosmetology program and other campus groups.

Several special attractions are planned throughout the evening. Families can receive free haircuts provided by Styles by Miles, while Crockett High School cosmetology students will offer nail painting. A photo booth, welcome station, survey station with additional prize opportunities, raffle table and concessions operated by Whitson’s Culinary Services will also be available. Members of the National Honor Society will assist throughout the event.

More than 30 community organizations are expected to participate, including the Crockett Police Department, Crockett Fire Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Houston CountyFamily Medical Clinic, Crockett Public Library, Texas Health and Human Services, Workforce Solutions, Burke Center, GETCAP, Family Guidance of Texas, Texas Family Care Network, Willowcreek Chiropractic and many others offering educational resources, family services and health information.

Magnetic 2026 football schedules will be provided by Darling Ingredients, Crockett Bank, and The Messenger, while supplies last.

District leaders said the annual event is intended to showcase themany educational opportunities and support services available to Crockett ISD students while helping families begin the school yearprepared and connected.
