Crockett Takes Down Elkhart 67-35

ELKHART – For the first half of the Crockett / Elkhart game, it looked like there might be an upset in the making. After a week off, the Bulldogs looked a little rusty in the first two quarters and while the Elks never led, they had the Bulldogs in their sights as they only trailed by six at halftime.

Apparently, Crockett Head Coach Kadrian Bryant shook the rust off of his team at halftime as the Bulldogs regained their form and pulled away from the Elks to win the game by a final score of 67-35.

Elkhart’s Ky Thomas goes up for two of his 15 points on the night as Crockett defeated the Elks by a final score of 67-35.

The Bulldogs managed to open up a six point lead after the first period of play thanks to six points from Allen Horace, three points from Jalyne Carruthers and twos from Jordan Bedford, Aj Owens and Chris Purvis.

The Elks relied on Ky Thomas for five points in the first quarter while Messiah Birdow and RJ Moore added two apiece to make the score 15-9 after the first eight minutes of play.

As the second quarter began, both teams had trouble finding the net as Elkhart and Crockett combined to score 14 total points. The Elks points came on three from Birdow while Moore and Thomas each had two.

Crockett’s points came from Carruthers, Owens and Ty White with two apiece while Purvis made one of two from the line to give Crockett a 22-16 lead at halftime.

Following the break, the Bulldogs’ offense seemed to wake up while their defense clamped down on the Elks. Horace dropped in nine,

Bedford nailed a three while Carruthers, White and Teddy Jones all had two.

Elkhart’s third quarter points came from Thomas with five and Cade Starr with one to make the score 40-22 after the third.

Crockett put the game away in the fourth as the offense erupted for 27 points. Owens led the way with six, while five other Bulldogs – Carruthers, Horace, White, Emmanuel Aldaco and Demetrius Williams all had four. Bedford made one of two from the charity stripe as Crockett pulled away for the 67-35 win.

The Elkhart fourth quarter points came from Birdow with four, Thomas with three and Moore, Starr and David McMorris with two apiece.

On the game the Bulldogs were led by Allen Horace with a game-high 19 points. Jalyne Carruthers dropped in 11, Aj Owens netted 10 and Ty White had eight. Jordan Bedford had six, Emmanuel Aldaco and Demetrius Williams both had four, Chris Purvis added three and Teddy Jones chipped in two to close out the Crockett point production.

The Elks were led in scoring by Ky Thomas with 15 points and Messiah Birdow with nine. RJ Moore dropped in six Cade Starr had three and David McMorris added two to round out the Elkhart scoring.
