James Dakota McFarland

James Dakota McFarland, age 15, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. James was born on September 29, 2002 in Huntsville, Texas to Frank and Tasha McFarland.

James was a freshman at Lovelady High School and enjoyed playing football and basketball.

James was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Lovelady and enjoyed going on mission trips including doing a Vacation Bible Study in San Leon, Texas; helping with a basketball camp and church clean up in West Monroe, Louisiana and Hurricane Harvey clean up.

He also enjoyed playing basketball with Lovelady Little Dribblers and played baseball with Crockett Merchants Little League when he was younger.

James is survived by his parents, Frank and Tasha (Little) McFarland of Lovelady, Texas; siblings, Matthew and Tabitha McFarland of Lovelady, Texas; grandparents, Sherry McFarland and Bobby Ellis of Madison, Tennessee and Patricia and Bill Baker or Riverside, Texas; aunts and uncles, Kimberly McFarland of Madison, Tennessee, Ted Little of Baytown, Texas, and Todd and Kali Little of Lovelady, Texas; great grandparents, Flora Armstreet of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and Troy Driskell of Lovelady, Texas. James is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank McFarland of Trinity, Texas, Jerry and Betti Little of Nacogdoches, Texas; great grandparents, Jim and Hazel McFarland of Trinity, Texas, Gene Armstreet of Trinity, Texas, Bessie and Lathan Lawlis of Porter, Texas and Ernestine Driskell of Lovelady, Texas.

Funeral services for James Dakota McFarland was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the Lovelady Antioch Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Wolfe officiating. Interment followed in the Lovelady Antioch Cemetery. Family received friends for visitation Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
