Ernest Marietta

Ernest Marietta, age 98, of Crockett passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at Winfield Nursing Center. He was born January 6, 1919 in Thurber, Texas to parents, Pete Marietta and Catherina Airola Marietta.

Ernest was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army, Company B, 97th Signal Battalion.  After completing his military service, he started his ranching career.  Ernest was a VFW member for many years and also a lifelong Farm Bureau member.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Schmidt Marietta of Crockett; daughters, Kay Hamilton and husband, Gary of Crockett, Julia Marietta of Crockett; grandchildren, Catherine Marietta Hamilton of Houston, Lawson Bode Hamilton and wife, Lucchese of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Alpha Marietta of Crockett; stepchildren, Deloras Carlisle of Oklahoma; and Douglas Schmidt of Rye; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Bode Marietta; parents, Pete and Catherina Marietta; and brother, Domenick Marietta.

Graveside services for Ernest Marietta were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.  The family received friends Friday, September 8, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
