WEEKLY BIBLE COMMENTARY by Wes Woodard 1-29

The Bible Knowledge Commentary p.1365, tells us the year is 536 B.C.  The angel Gabriel tells Daniel that he had a difficult time coming to him.  It had taken 21 days for Gabriel to come from Heaven to Earth and tell Daniel about his vision.  Gabriel said, “I have come in response to your words. But the Prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for 21 days; Then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia. Now I have come to give you an understanding of what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision pertains to the days yet future.”

It is clear that Satan does not want us to posses or understand Prophetic truths. In this case the main demon of Persia tries to keep Gabriel from getting through to Daniel. Michael the Arc Angel has to come to his aid, or Gabriel would never been able to make it to Daniel.  The Demons fight for three weeks against Michael trying to keep him from bringing an interpretation of the vision to Daniel.  Prophetic truths are never easy to understand.  Years ago Sir Robert Anderson, after WWI, said these words, “But the intelligent student who can read between the lines will find there mapped out, sometimes in clear bold outline, sometimes dimly, but yet always discernable by the patient and devote inquirer, the great scheme of God’s counsels and workings in and for this world of ours from eternity to eternity.” This statement had to do with prophecy.  As I have studied prophesy, one book which I have found helpful is: Charting the End Times by Drs. Tim LaHaye and Thomas Ice, published by Harvest House.
