ELKHART – The Wesley Taylor Relays were held on Monday, April 3 in Elkhart and provided a preview of some of the best athletes in the area as they ready for the upcoming district, area, regional and state competitions in the next month.

At the team level, the Elkhart Lady Elks finished in first place with a total of 250 points. The Groveton Lady Indians were a distant second with 110 points. Other schools competing at the track meet included Buffalo, Cayuga, Latexo and Leon. 

The scoring was based on a point system where 10 points were awarded for first place, eight for second, six for third, four for fourth, two for fifth and one for sixth. In the relay events, the points were doubled.

The top six finishers are listed below.

Long Jump: 1) Ashley Buck – Elkhart – 16’4″; 2) Keondra White – Elkhart – 14’11”; 3) Tori Wars – Groveton – 14’6 1/2″; 4) Jamie Ward – Cayuga – 14’5 1/4″; 5) Mollie Dittmar – Buffalo – 14’3 1/2″; and 6) Madison Carder – Elkhart – 14’2″.
