Walter Wayne “WW” Adams
Walter Wayne “WW” Adams passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 94. Born March 14, 1931, in Weldon, Texas, WW was a proud East Texan whose life reflected his deep sense of duty, love of family, and unwavering work ethic.
Walter and Eloise, both originally from the same East Texas area, moved to Houston separately as young adults. It was there in the big city that they began dating, eventually marrying and building a life together. WW went on to begin a distinguished career in law enforcement. In 1954, he joined the Houston Police Department and served honorably until his retirement in 1979. He was deeply committed to protecting and serving the community and made lasting friendships throughout his career.
Following retirement, WW and Eloise returned to the Piney Woods of East Texas and settled near Crockett. There, he embraced ranch life, tending to his cattle and hay fields with the same dedication he had shown throughout his working life. He cherished the peace of the land and the satisfaction of a hard day’s work.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Diane Adams Banks and husband, David of Houston; his son, Greg Adams and wife, Christine of Cypress; grandchildren, Jamie Banks of Houston, Stephanie Adams of Dalhart, Elizabeth Ridgway of Keller, Travis Adams of Norfolk, Virginia, Chase Adams of Great Falls, Montana, and Paige Adams of Houston; great-grandchildren, Christian, Alyssa, Madison, and Cooper. He also leaves behind his loving sisters, Lula Kent and Jane Kabine.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Eloise Adams; son, Michael Adams; parents, Charlie and Lillie Adams; brothers, Pete, Harold, Billy, Ray, Chester, Jerry, and Johnny Adams.
Funeral services for Walter Wayne “WW” Adams will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Lovelady Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
WW’s family and friends will remember him for his quiet strength, his love for the land, and the values he instilled in all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the generations that follow.
