GRAPELAND – The Grapeland Garden Club received a special honor on Thursday, Nov. 14 as it played host to the District III Fall Meeting of the Texas Garden Clubs, Inc., held at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.

Grapeland Garden Club President Emilie Cunningham and Chairman Carol Moore kicked things off at 9:15 am with registration, coffee and a meeting of the Ways and Means Committee.

Once the committee meeting concluded, the general assembly began with Christine Fincher, the District III Director, presiding. The invocation was provided by Rev. Wade Harman and the welcome was provided by Grapeland Mayor Balis Dailey.

Following various reports, Garden Club members were treated to a fabulous luncheon and the keynote address provided by Master Gardner Jolene Renfro, a member of both the Crockett and Grapeland Garden Clubs. Renfro spoke on the topic of harmful plants.

Once Renfro’s keynote address concluded, the business portion of the meeting was reconvened, door prizes were awarded and the meeting was adjourned shortly after 2 pm.
