COLDSPRING – The Crockett Bulldogs hit the road last Friday as they traveled to Coldspring to take on the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans in a District 11-3A DI matchup.

The Bulldogs came into the game with an overall record of 4-2 and a district mark of 1-1. The Trojans, meanwhile were 3-4, with a district record of 1-2.

Throughout the first half the two teams traded touchdowns and the game went to the break with the score tied at 14.

In the second half, however, the Bulldogs began to pull away and opened up a 28-14 lead. The Trojans cut the lead to seven points with a late score and as the game went into the final period of play, Crockett led by a score of 28-21.

The fourth quarter belonged to Crockett as the put up two TDs to make the final score 42-21.

Crockett returns home this week as they welcome the Elkhart Elks to town for a Homecoming showdown. The Elks are 2-2 in district and a win over the Bulldogs would give them the inside track to the third playoff seed.

It’s a longshot, but a win by Crockett would keep them alive for a shot at the district championship as they close out the regular season against the Westwood Panthers and Franklin Lions.

The kickoff for Friday night’s game is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
