Charlie B. Evans

Charlie B. Evans, being the only child, was the pride and joy of Pearlie B. Taylor Evans and Edgar Evans, born November 21, 1928, in Olustee, Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in the Mt. Zion Community, of Grapeland, Texas, and as a child he was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Wichita Falls.

On September 2, 1947, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, in Houston, Texas, where he specialized in Auto Equipment. He was an active member of the Korean War. In April of 1952, he received an honorable discharge from Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.

After serving his country, Charlie returned to Houston, Texas, and began working at Sinclair Oil Refinery, where he retired. After retiring, he returned home and began farming and ranching in Grapeland, Texas. Charlie was baptized as a child at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in 1945. He later rededicated his life to Christ and joined St. Francis of the Tejas Catholic Church on May 21, 1989.

Charlie was an honorable man who always kept his word and always told the truth. You could always count on him! His laugh would light up the room. He loved to coon hunt, work in his garden, and was a great father, grandfather and friend.
