Area Runners Compete at UIL State Cross Country Meet

ROUND ROCK – The UIL State Cross Country Meet was held on Saturday, Nov. 3 and several runners from Houston and Anderson County were in Round Rock to compete against the best the Lone Star State had to offer in Class A through Class AAAA.

The meet was held at Old Settlers’ Park in Round Rock with the girls slotted to run 3200m   (approximately two miles) and the boys scheduled to run 5000m (approximately three miles).

At the Class A level, the Neches Tigers were represented by Bryant Kincaid who finished 16th out of 147 runners with a time of 17:12.78.

On the girls’ side of the course, the Neches Lady Tigers finished 16th as a team with a combined team score of 342. The Lady Tigers were paced by Kacie Kimbrough who finished 18th with a time of 12:59.95. She was followed by Lexi Rogers who finished 79th with a time of 14:03.20. Mallory Main finished 71st with a time of 14:42.02. Alex Parker finished in 100th place with a time of 15:42.30. Kailey finished 107th with a time of 16:20.96. Abigail Spaith finished 108th with a time of 16:42.20 and Adreanna Arthur finished in 110th with a time of 19:21.05.

Moving to the 2A level, Slocum Mustang Justin Neal finished in 44th position with a time of 17:57.2 while Centerville Tiger Josh Franklin finished 61st with a time of 18:18.46.

The Grapeland Sandiettes finished 15th as a team with a combined team score of 387. The Sandiettes were paced by Kenya Woods who finished 95th overall with a time of 13:41.68. She was followed by Ragan Bowie who finished in 105th place with a time of 13:51.31. Cierra Simon finished 114th with a time 13:57.37. Hannah Chipman finished 118th with a time of 14:08.26. Jamiyah Bowie finished in 129th place with a time of 14:43.15 and Christi Shepherd finished 146th with a time of 16:40.55.

The Latexo Lady Tigers were also represented at the State Cross Country Meet as Lady Tiger Madison Kelsey finished in 9th place with a time of 12:15.43.

Representing the Slocum Lady Mustangs was Courtney January who finished 96th overall with a time of 13:41.72.

Centerville Lady Tiger Michaela Kmiec made the trip to Round Rock and finished 57th with a time of 13:18.11.

At the Class AAA level, Elkhart Lady Elk Ava Trim finished 67th with a time of 13:06.69.

On the girls’ side of the Class AAAA competition, Madisonville Lady Mustang Madilyn Caperton finished in 119th place with a time of 13:36.98.

For the boys in Class AAAA, the Palestine Wildcats finished 10th overall with a combined team score of 216. The Wildcats were led by Luis Rangel who finished sixth with a time of 16:27.89. Michael Guzman finished 36th with a time 17:03.77. Alex Mendoza finished 86th with a time of 17:25.37.  Daniel Sanchez finished 61st overall with a time of 17:32.11. Grant Attaway finished 69th with a time of 17:44.12. Michael Chaidez finished 88th with a time of 18:08.71 and Jonathon Sanchez finished 108th with a time of 19.06.52.
