Turn Around, Don’t Drown

With rainfall estimates during the 24-hour period between Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 ranging from five to 10 inches in some parts of Houston and Anderson counties, motorists are urged to use caution when driving the roadways around East Texas.

According to the National Weather Service, “Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that over half of all flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water.”

Be smart – turn around, don’t drown.
