Two plays later, Bedford connected with AJ Owens who had gotten behind the Warriors’ secondary for a 49-yard scoring strike. Antonio Cruz knocked the extra point home and with 6:11 left in the first quarter, the Dawgs led 7-0.
Following turnovers by both teams, Crockett wound up with the ball at midfield. After the Dawgs picked up a first down on a Bedford to Horace eight yard gain on fourth and five, Bedford found Horace three plays later for a 29-yard TD reception. With the PAT, Crockett now led 14-0 and the route was on.
The two teams exchanged possessions to open the second quarter but after a Horace sack, Tomball Christian fumbled and gave the ball to Crockett deep inside Warrior territory at the 27.
From there, Owens lost two yards, Johnson picked up seven and then Bedford found Demarcus Richardson for 21 yards and a score. Crockett struck back with a 30-yard pass from Bedford to Owens with nine seconds to push the Crockett lead to 41-7. The Cruz PAT was good and brought the first half scoring to a close.
During the second half, the two teams slugged it out in the middle of the field but neither would give an inch as the Crockett Bulldogs held on to win by a final score of 42-7.
