Sandra Sims Wilson

Sandra Sims Wilson, age 67, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 peacefully at her home in Crockett, Texas. She was born August 21, 1950 in Crockett, Texas to John Dewey and Patricia Sims. Sandra graduated from Crockett High School in 1968 and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a minor in Business from Sam Houston State University in 1972. There she also met her husband Frank Wilson.

Sandra and Frank married on July 28, 1973 at the First United Methodist Church of Crockett, where both became active members of the church teaching Sunday school, leading committees, and serving the church body. Sandra was always involved in her community and served in a variety of capacities. She was on the local school board for many years, was active in the Aggie Mom’s Club, and helped her children with their involvement in the county fair and talent shows. She enjoyed antiquing, visiting garage sales on the weekends with her best friend Fredia, camping, and organizing/cleaning her home (and her kid’s homes); however, her greatest fulfillment came from spending time by Frank’s side loving on her kids, baking birthday cakes with her grandchildren, and always being surrounded by those she loved. Her hope driven perseverance can be seen clearly throughout the journey from her diagnosis of stage four ovarian cancer in August of 2010 until her true joy broke out in glorious dawn when God called her home. Sandra had every right to give up, be mad, and lose hope after her diagnosis, but instead she loved and lived every single moment she was given. Not even cancer could rob her of who she was. Her beautiful life will always be remembered, and her intense, selfless love will be a legacy forever carried on in the lives of her children.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Frank Wilson; children, Laura and Carson Hickson, and Brent Wilson; grandchildren, Hannah, Taylor, Kendall, Caleb, and Cooper Hickson; mother, Patricia Sims; brother, Steven Sims; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, John Dewey Sims.

Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched or changed by Sandra Gail Wilson were asked to attend funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church of Crockett to remember, grieve, and celebrate the life of this amazing woman. Interment to follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park.  The family received friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.callawayallee.com
