Girls’ Basketball Playoffs Begin Monday

EAST TEXAS – The 2017-2018 girls’ basketball playoffs tip off on Monday, Feb. 12 with a slew of local teams preparing for the Bi-District round of the postseason.

At the Class 4A level, the Palestine Ladycats will take on the China Spring Lady Cougars. The Ladycats head into Bi-District as the fourth seed from District 18-4A while the Lady Cougars are the one seed from District 17-4A.

The game will be held at the Wolens Special Events Center on the Navarro College campus in Corsicana. The physical address of the arena is 3200 W. 7th Ave., Corsicana, Texas 75110. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12.

At the Class 3A level, the Crockett Lady Bulldogs will face the Central Heights Lady Blue Devils. The Lady Bulldogs head into Bi-District as the second seed from District 21-3A while the Lady Blue Devils are the three seed from District 22-3A.

The game will be held at the Shands Gymnasium on the Angelina College campus. The game will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, however, the tipoff time has yet to be determined.

Moving to the Class 2A level, the Grapeland Sandiettes will face the Italy Lady Gladiators in the first round of the playoffs. The Sandiettes head into Bi-District as the one seed from District 20-2A while the Lady Gladiators are the four seed from District 19-2A.

The game will be held at the Fairfield High School Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

There’s a battle for the second, third and fourth seeds from District 20-2A betwixt Lovelady, Centerville and Big Sandy. Centerville won the rights to a bye so Lovelady will play Big Sandy on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in Onalaska.

The loser of that game will enter the playoffs as the four seed while the winner will play Centerville for the second seed on Saturday. As of press time, the final score of the Lovelady / Big Sandy game was not available.

In District 19-2A, the Cayuga Lady Wildcats will finish as the three seed. They will face the two seed from District 20-2A, once that is determined.

The Neches Lady Tigers secured the two seed out of District 21-2A and will face the Timpson Lady Bears as the three seed from District 22-2A.

The game will be held at the Wells High School gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12.

At the Class 1A level, the Slocum Lady Mustangs will enter the playoffs as the one seed from District 27-1A. They will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs. As of press time, their second round opponent is not yet known.

In District 28-1A, the Kennard Lady Tigers are in a battle for the final playoff spot. They will host the Chester Lady Yellow Jackets Friday, Feb. 9 in Kennard. Tip-off was at 6 p.m. but as of press time, the score was unavailable. The winner will enter the playoffs as the third seed.
