CROCKETT – The Crockett Police Department is actively looking for two suspects involved in the EZ Stop convenience store robbery on Wednesday evening, Jan. 24.

According to information from Crockett Police Lt. Clayton Smith, shortly before 10 p.m. officers were dispatched to the EZ Stop store located at 501 W. Goliad (EZ Stop) in reference to an armed robbery.

“Initial investigation revealed that at approximately 9:50 PM, two suspects entered the store each armed with handguns,” Smith stated. “The first suspect through the door was wearing all black clothing with a red bandanna covering the face. That suspect was also wearing a back pack. The second suspect was wearing a black top with grey sweat pants.”

The police lieutenant added both suspects displayed handguns “… while one ordered the cashier to put all the money in the back pack, including the money in the register and the drop box, as the other guarded a second employee inside the store.”

“The only physical description currently is one suspect was slender built and the second suspect was a heavier build,” smith added. “Both suspects approached the store on foot and left on foot. The suspects took an undetermined amount of cash during the robbery.”

No further information is currently available but as of Friday morning, Jan. 26, the investigation was still ongoing.

Anyone who recognizes either or both of the two suspects is encouraged to contact the Crockett Police Department at 936-544-2021 or East Texas Crime Stoppers at 936-639-TIPS.
