Bulldogs Roll By Tigers in Ho.Co. Holiday Tournament

Crockett Defeats Malakoff, 52-35

 CROCKETT – After a tough loss on Friday to the Wharton Tigers by a score of 55-53, the Crockett Bulldogs took on another group of Tigers on Saturday. This time, however, the results were markedly different as the Dawgs rolled by the Malakoff Tigers in the consolation game of the Silver Bracket by a score of 52-35.

The Tigers came into the game short-handed and only suited up five players for the contest. The Bulldogs took full advantage of the situation and opened up 16-6 lead after the first eight minutes of play.

Allen Horace paced Crockett with four points, while both Jordan Bedford and AJ Owens knocked down a three. Jaylne Curruthers, Teddy Jones and Derrick Sherman all had two for Crockett to account for their first quarter points.

The Tigers were led by RJ Carr with four and Ja’Tarrion Walker with two points.

As the second quarter got underway, the Tigers managed to keep pace with the Bulldogs thanks to seven points by C. Wilson. He was joined in the scoring column by Eric Littleton with two and Carr with one.

The Dawgs got a pair of three-pointers from Bedford and Owens while Horace and Jones both had two and brought the half-time score to 26-16, in favor of Crockett.

Following the break, the Dawgs and Tigers played to a standstill in the third quarter. Littleton had four points for Malakoff while Lee, Walker and Wilson netted two apiece.

Horace dropped in four points for Crockett, while Draylin Bryant, Curruthers and Marcus Shedd all had a basket to

make the score 36-26 after three periods of play.

The lack of players began to take its toll on the Malakoff defense during the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs pulled away to win by a score of 52-35.

The Dawgs were led in the fourth quarter by Horace with seven and Owens with five. Curruthers and Shedd closed out the Crockett scoring with two each.

Malakoff was by Wilson with five in the fourth and Littleton with four. For the game the Tigers were led in scoring by C. Wilson with 14 points. Eric Littleton also snuck into double figures with 10. RJ Carr added seven and Ja’Tarrion Walker chipped in four.

Crockett also had two players in double figures for the game. Allen Horace knocked down 17 points while AJ Owens had 10. Jordan Bedford and Jalyne both had six, Teddy Jones and Marcus Shedd both had four and Braylin Bryant and Derrick Sherman each had two to close out the Bulldogs point production.
