George E. Glover

George E. Glover, age 88, of Crockett, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the Winfield Nursing Center. George was born July 8, 1928 in Hobert, OK to parents, Arlie M. Glover and Ruby Hagwood Glover. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1946 to 1948 during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK in 1952 with a degree in Industrial Arts. George began working for Shell Oil in Midland, Texas and transferred to Houston in 1972 working as a Senior Tech Draftsman at Shell Oil Company for 34 and a half years retiring in 1987 and moved to Crockett.  He was active in Central Baptist Church as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and anything else church needed also the snow cone maker for VBS for many years. George loved restoring antique cars, having restored dozens over his lifetime.

He is survived by wife of 67 years, Billye Wilkinson Glover of Crockett; sons, Gary Glover and wife, Carol of Olney, Keith Glover and wife, Christi of Hawaii, Kendall Glover and wife, Samantha of Fort Collins, CO; granddaughters, Sarah, Kate and Elizabeth; great-grandsons, Jackson and Carson; sisters, Margaret McGinnis and husband, Charles of Carlsbad, NM, Kathlyne Groves of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Ray Glover of Oregon. He was preceded in death by parents, Arlie and Ruby Glover.

Funeral services for George E. Glover were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Goss officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 100 North 7th Street, Crockett, TX 75835. Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
