Curtis L. Commander

Curtis L. Commander, age 84, of Crockett passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 in the Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.  Curtis was born April 2, 1933 in Houston County to parents, William Nelson Commander and Willie Mae Dixon Commander.  He was a veteran of the United States Marines and retired from iron working.  Curtis is survived by his wife, Frances Commander of Crockett; sons, Scott Commander and wife, Kathy of Crockett, Phillip Douglas Commander and wife, Margaret of Pleasant City, OH, Dustan Commander and wife, Anissa of Palestine; grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Sanders; Rachel Commander, Tyler Commander, Kiera Commander, Destiny and Johnathon Smith; great-grandchildren, Raelynn Sanders and Emma Rose Smith; sister, Clara Hinson of Latexo; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Curtis was preceded in death by parents, William Nelson and Willie Mae Commander; five brothers and two sisters.  Memorial services for Curtis L. Commander will be held Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Salem Cemetery with Rev. R. T. Cannon officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas Homeplace, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX   75701. Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
