Sunday Night Crash Claims Life of Driver

HOUSTON COUNTY – A late night crash on Easter Sunday claimed the life of a one person, according to a statement from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The wreck occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on FM 227 near San Pedro Creek. According to the DPS preliminary investigation report, a 2000 Buick was traveling westbound on FM 227 when it left the roadway, struck a tree and burst into flames with the driver still inside.

The driver’s identity has not been released as of press time and an autopsy has been ordered. An investigation into the wreck is ongoing. No further details are available at this time.
