Comptroller to Send Oct. Sales Tax Allocations to Cities and Counties 

By Will Johnson Messenger Reporter EAST TEXAS – Area cities and counties will soon receive their October sales tax revenue disbursements from the state. In a press release dated Oct. 12, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar stated, “The cities of San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano and McKinney saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations. The cities of Houston and Midland saw significant decreases in sales tax allocations.” Hegar will send local sales tax allocations for October in the amount of $650 million to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts. Area Teams Dominate District 20-2A Cross Country Meet

By Will Johnson Messenger Reporter HOUSTON COUNTY – The District 20-2A Cross Country Meet was held on Wednesday, Oct. 12 and the three teams from Houston County dominated the event. The district is comprised of six teams. They are:  Centerville; Dallardsville Big Sandy; Grapeland; Groveton; Latexo; and Lovelady. The Latexo Tigers boys’ varsity team, individually, went 1-2-3 and captured the team title as their top five runners all finished in top ten.
