CROCKETT – Chet Garner of the PBS Houston reality television series “The Daytripper” is gearing up to bring his crew to Houston County to discover all that the City of Crockett has to offer, according to Jeannie Julian of the Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce.

“They are coming Thursday and Friday (July 19-20),” Julian divulged. “What they do is, they go in a few places and interview some people, and then, they do a scan of the town.”

When asked if the chamber has any special plans to welcome the adventurer and his entourage to town, Julian explained that such actions were discouraged by the team.

“They don’t want that,” she said. “They called and talked to me, and I told them everything we had. Then, the guy took the information and went back and made up a schedule of what he wants to look at or do.”

Julian said that she and Garner communicate on a regular basis.

“I can’t steer him, because he’s already made up his mind what he really wants,” she said. “So, I’m waiting to see the final product.”

Julian shared that Garner has expressed interest in interviewing Crockett Mayor Joni Clonts at the Moosehead Cafe, as well as visiting with Pipp Gillette of the Camp Street Cafe.

“He was looking for one more eating place around town so he could interview somebody there,” she added. “I wanted him to go to the Depot Museum and the old houses and that sort of thing, so what those will end up being will be the clips of them and telling what they are and what they do – you know, ‘Here’s what the town looks like, and this is what it has to offer.’”
