CROCKETT – A 34-year-old Crockett man has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, following the victim’s outcry earlier this month.

Jordan Keith Arguelles was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 21 following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Crockett Police Detective Leea Price was notified on May 11 there would be a forensic interview with the victim of a possible sexual assault.

The victim stated she was 10-years-old at the time of the alleged assault and that she lived with her grandmother at the time the sexual assault occurred. She further informed the detective Arguelles also resided at her grandmother’s residence, the legal document stated.

“She said that Jordan (Arguelles) wanted her to scratch his back and he wasn’t wearing a shirt and had the covers over him. When she scratched his back, he tried to hug her. She said that Jordan had said he was going to marry her and that he wanted her to have his baby,” the affidavit stated.

The legal document further stated Arguelles “… would try to get her to touch him on his private part and he would shut the door when she tried to get away.”

In her statement, the victim went on to say Arguelles would touch her genital area under her clothing. He would also attempt to have the victim sit with him under a blanket when he was not wearing any clothing, her statement indicated.

“She said that Jordan would call her baby and would kiss her. She demonstrated on an anatomically correct doll what Jordan did to her and said he would also touch her on her bottom. She said that Jordan told her that if she told anyone, he would kill her,” the affidavit stated.

The victim was taken to Harold’s House to have a SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) exam on May 17 and provided the same information to the forensic investigator.

In addition, the victim told the SANE nurse Arguelles had repeatedly engaged in genital to genital contact with the victim “… and that it would hurt afterwards.”

The SANE nurse informed Det. Price the victim showed “… evidence of possible sexual assault and noted the evidence on the paperwork.”

An arrest warrant was issued for Arguelles on May 21 and he was taken into custody the same day where he was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first degree felony.

According to Section 12.32 of the Texas Penal Code, “An individual adjudged guilty of a felony of the first degree shall be punished by imprisonment in the institutional division for life or for any term of not more than 99 years or less than five years. In addition to imprisonment, an individual adjudged guilty of a felony of the first degree may be punished by a fine not to exceed $10,000.”

Arguelles is held at the Houston County Jail on a bond of $50,000.        .
