Ronald Moore

With a heavy heart we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald Moore, husband, father, grandfather and friend on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at age 85. Born in the Liberty Hill Community under a full moon on Saturday, January 11, 1941, he was the first son born to Edgar and Mavis Wallace Moore right below the steep hill of his grandparents, Daddy Johnnie and Mamma Carrie’s home.

As a young man, he grew up walking barefoot on the Red Dirt roads, which began his lifelong connection to the land that he loved and activities that included hunting, fishing, and swimming, especially in Pedro creek.

Later his activities included baseball, football, basketball, yet drag racing was clearly a favorite.

After WWII and his father returning from Germany, their family moved to Galena Park, TX where Ronnie graduated in 1959 from Galena Park High School as a proud “Yellow Jacket”, then from 1963-1965 he served our country in Germany.

Once he returned home he met and married Donna Kay Martin in 1966, and introduced her to his family legacies in Houston County. The adventure of their life began a never ending legacy and a family that he loved dearly. Their beautiful daughter Shaunda LeAnn came into their lives in 1969, a true gift from God and “Daddy’s Girl”. Wherever he went, she was with him, always standing up in his truck with her arm around his neck – a love to the end.

The Moore’s purchased their family farm in 1968, raised cattle and enjoyed the hard work of seeing a home begin. He always made people feel welcome and willing to lend a hand to all of those around him. During this period, Ronnie and his brother, Terry were the perfect example of brotherly love, building their dream homes right across from each other. They were always competing too, especially when it came to the Liberty Hill Domino Champion trophy.

Ronnie was a father that loved his family deeply. While experiencing two recessions and working with Goodyear, as his father did, Ronnie traveled back and forth between Houston and Liberty Hill for most of his life until retirement.

In 2003 their lives were blessed again, and another new chapter with the birth of their grandson of Nicholas Moore Campos. What love those two shared until the very end. Daddy Ronnie taught his “boy” to hunt, fish, play golf, drive a truck and other farm equipment, and of course his beloved games (Dominos, Wahoo, card games, and plenty of competitive sports) – always to win and losing was not an option. And he never missed any activities that Nicholas participated in.

Faith and family was so important to him and he accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized November 7, 2022.

Ronnie is survived by Donna with over 60 years together; his special girl Shaunda, and loving grandson Nicholas, which he referred to as a son. Also sister-in-law Barbara Kring; nieces, Charla Kelly and husband Johnathan of Conroe, Tresha Johnson and husband Michael of Huntsville, Missy Madia of Frisco, Susan Stewart and husband Bruce of Weches and nephew Sam Moore of Crockett. He was preceded in death by parents Edgar and Mavis Wallace Moore and grandparents Daddy Johnnie and Mamma Carrie Moore, and Daddy Samp and Mamma Vassie Wallace; loving brother Terry Earl Moore and Geneva; mother-in-law June Martin; and brother-in-law Wayne Kring.

Funeral services for Ronnie Moore were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2026 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Bro. Josh Bobbitt officiating. Interment followed at Weches Cemetery. Visitation began at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
