Robert Sarge Klinger

Lt. Col. Robert Sarge Klinger, age 84, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Monday, March 23, 2026 in Crockett. Robert was born September 17, 1941 in Pampa, Texas to parents, Robert Moore Klinger and Lois Stallings Klinger. Robert served twenty plus years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel and was serving in Iran when the Shah fell from power.

Robert is survived by wife, Vera Parmenter Klinger of Mena, AR; children, Niki Northfell and husband, Tom of Fayetteville, AR, Jill Odom and husband, Dave of Crockett, Jeff Klinger of Pocatello, ID; step-children, Scott Sund and wife, Beth of Colorado Springs, CO, Mike Sund and wife, Kim of San Antonio, Teresa Sund; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by mother, Lois Klinger and aunt, Evelyn Stallings.

Funeral services for Lt. Col. Robert Sarge Klinger will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery and he will be interred at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
