Nona Tatom Musick McLendon

Nona Tatom Musick McLendon was born on October 5, 1939 to Riley and Mildred Tatom  and passed on to her heavenly home on February 3, 2017.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Applewhite and husband, James of Warren; Michelle Baker Nino of Valdez, Alaska; sons, Michael McLendon and wife, Arminder of Houston, Mark McLendon and wife, Melissa of Greenbriar, Ark., Richard McLendon of Houston; son-in-law, Wesley Howard of Malvern, Ark; sisters,-in-law, Gunita Harrell and husband, Norman of Burleson, Tx, Dixie Musick of Grapeland, Tx, Mirnie Musick Roberson of Grapeland, Tx; Brother-in-law, Thomas McLendon and wife, Becky of Crockett, Tx.  She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Howard; husbands, Travis Wayne Musick and John Michael McLendon

Nona spent her life serving at the First Baptist Church in Grapeland, being a wife and mother, and doing community service.  She was active in Sunbeams and served six years as a community council director, during that time she was Peanut Festival director for eight years and was a member of Warren First Baptist Church at the time of her death.  She loved her Sunday School Class.

She was president of Grapeland Parent Teacher Organization for three years and also president of Grapeland Band Booster Club.  She was always ready to lend a hand helping build floats, make decorations or whatever needed to be done.

After moving to Crockett, she became active on the Crockett Jaycees.

Nona began her banking career the last week of December 1977.

She was asked to work for one week and stayed for the next thirty-eight years.  She began stuffing statements and retired as president in 2010.  She loved her career in banking and acquired many friends during that time.  After retirement she enjoyed spending her time with family and friends.

Pallbearers for Nona will be Jason Bridges, Brandon Bridges, Frank A. Smith, Thomas McLendon, Tim Thomasson, James Waldrop, John Mark and David Stanley.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Murchison and Jed Mobley.

Visitation for Nona was held Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville, TX.  There will also be a visitation on Saturday, February 4 at Grapeland Missionary Baptist Church, in Grapeland.

The funeral service will be Sunday, February 5, 2017, Missionary Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with Brother Wesley Howard officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Parker Cemetery in Grapeland.
