HOUSTON COUNTY – The Houston County Commissioners Court met in a called meeting on Tuesday afternoon, July 19 to discuss the allocation of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Once the court approved the payment of bills and expenses, Houston County Judge Jim Lovell requested the court to consider authorizing the purchase of several items through the ARPA grant fund.

The first item under consideration was the purchase for Emergency Management Mobile EOC van and a Cummins Onan RV QD 8000 diesel generator in the amount of $10,802.

Next, the court considered the purchase of updated/new utensils and cookware from Cook’s Direct in the amount of $2,320.26.

The third item considered for purchase was a self-serve fueling terminal from Innovative Fueling Solutions in the amount of $18,345.72. This was needed to replace the current failing, outdated system that is no longer reliable for pilots or visitors.

All three items were approved for purchase.

The commissioners also approved advertising for bids for the purchase of 23,299 tons of road base to be distributed on: County Roads 3370; 3380; 3390; 3401; 3410; 3430; 4025; 4030; 4035; 4037; 4120; and 4130.
