Bobbie Virginia Taylor Jones
Bobbie Virginia Taylor Jones, age 91 of Kennard passed away Sunday, October 18, 2026 at her home. Bobbie was born December 30, 1934 in Pine Prairie to parents, Boone Ball Taylor and Velva Mae English Taylor.
She attended all 12 years at Kennard school, graduating in 1952 as Miss KHS, then made the move to Lufkin to begin her adult life working at Memorial Hospital. While working there, she met the Love of her life, Douglass Gene Jones sharing 67 years and three children, until his death in 2020. Bobbie became a military wife for 20 years and after Gene’s military retirement, they moved back to East Texas, finally to her beloved Kennard. Bobbie then got a job at Farmers Guaranty State Bank in Kennard, a job she dearly loved, retiring after 22 1/2 years of service.
She was a longtime member of the Kennard First Baptist Church. Her family was most important to her, always being the happiest when they were around. The most important thing in her life was: the Love of God, Love of family and friends, and the Love of America.
Bobbie is survived by children, Douglass Taylor “Butch” Jones of Kennard, Jeanne Belinda Currie and husband, Rex of Hillister, Kimberley Anne Jones of Kennard and boyfriend, Robert Chumley; grandchildren, Jeremy Jones and wife, Olivia of Salado, Jennifer Tolar and husband, Bobby of Woodville, Joshua Jones and wife, Priscilla of San Antonio; Keith Currie and wife, Catherine of Beaumont, Sage Jones of Georgetown; great-grandchildren, Hannah Mokry, Cason Reid, Hunt Reid, Karoline Currie, Cannon Currie, Bowen Currie, Alexander Jones, Caroline Jurries, Douglass Jones, Vivienne Jones, Madison Tolar, Jackson Tolar, Huxley Tolar, Julian Trevino; brother, Jimmy Taylor and wife, Betty of Ratcliff; nieces, Diann Taylor of Hondo, Gail Taylor of Kennard; nephew, Brian Taylor of San Antonio; brother-in-law, Don Jones of Lufkin; special niece, Debbie Britton of New Caney; special friend, Helen Goodson; numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by loving husband of 67 years, Douglass Gene Jones; parents, Boone and Velva Taylor; son-in-law, Steve Hill.
Funeral services for Bobbie Virginia Taylor Jones were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment followed at the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
