Lovelady ISD Holds B Rating; High School Earns A

LOVELADY — Lovelady ISD maintained its B rating in the latest state accountability results, while Lovelady Elementary and Middle School improved by a full letter grade in every accountability domain.
Lovelady High School earned an A rating and received four separate distinction designations for Academic Achievement in Science, Academic Achievement in Social Studies, Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts and Top 25% Comparative Growth.
The results give Lovelady ISD positive news at both the district and campus levels. The district’s B rating reflects the overall performance of Lovelady ISD, while the campus ratings and distinctions provide a closer look at how individual schools performed.
Texas’ A-F accountability ratings are based on more than a single test score. STAAR and end-of-course exams make up a major part of the system, but the state also considers several different areas of performance.
Student Achievement measures how students performed academically. Academic Growth looks at how much students improve over time. Relative Performance compares a campus with schools serving similar students, while Closing the Gaps examines the performance of student groups and progress toward narrowing achievement differences.
For Lovelady Elementary and Middle School, the district reported improvement in every accountability domain. That means the campus made progress across the different areas used in the state’s evaluation rather than improving in only one category.
The district did not describe the improvement as limited to a particular subject or group of students. Instead, the full-letter-grade increase in every domain represents broad progress across the campus.
Lovelady High School’s A rating was accompanied by distinctions in three core academic areas. The designations in science, social studies and reading/language arts recognize strong performance in those subjects when compared with other campuses in the state’s comparison groups.
The fourth distinction, Top 25% Comparative Growth, recognizes the high school’s academic growth compared with similar schools. It is a separate measure from the school’s overall A rating and highlights the progress students made over time.
Superintendent Wendy Tullos said the results belong to the entire Lovelady school community.
“We are proud of the continued growth and achievement across Lovelady ISD,” Tullos said. “Our district maintained a strong ‘B’ rating, while Lovelady Elementary & Middle School demonstrated tremendous progress, improving by a full letter grade in every accountability domain.”
Tullos also praised the work of students, parents, teachers, campus administrators and district leaders.
“Lovelady High School continues to excel, earning an ‘A’ rating along with the following distinction designations: Academic Achievement in Science, Academic Achievement in Social Studies, Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts and Top 25% Comparative Growth,” she said.
The state report card offers a snapshot of academic performance, but the results also give district officials a way to measure progress from one year to the next. For Lovelady, that snapshot includes a district that held its B rating, an elementary and middle school that improved in every accountability domain and a high school recognized for both achievement and growth.
“These results reflect the hard work and dedication of our students, parents, teachers, campus administrators and our district leadership team,” Tullos said. “We are proud of the progress being made throughout our district and will continue working toward even greater success.”
