Grapeland Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest; Meth, Marijuana Seized

GRAPELAND — Julie Eugenia Chaffin was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 4, after Grapeland police found methamphetamine and marijuana during a traffic stop on Washington Street.

According to the Grapeland Police Department (GPD), Lt. Bateman and Officer Moreton conducted the stop at approximately 5:45 p.m. for a traffic violation. A probable-cause search of the vehicle revealed the suspected narcotics.

The substances were seized and submitted for laboratory analysis.

A booking record lists Chaffin, 49, as being charged with possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B, less than one gram.

GPD said it remains committed to proactive enforcement and removing illegal narcotics from the community. The department also thanked residents for their continued support as officers work to keep Grapeland safe.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
