Elkhart ISD’s Sky Grant was the first place winner for Region 7 as the East Texas Council of Government sponsored aReUse Competitionopen to K-5 students. It was a challenge where competitors had to design a new product using only reusable or recycled materials. Sky entered the Home and Garden division for the 2nd-3rd grade and designed a silverware caddy out of recycled vegetable cans and an old hanger. He was judged on creativity, originality, functionality, quality of work and reuse of materials. He tied for 1st place in his division.  Elkhart ISD Superintendent Dr. Lamont Smith said they were “extremely proud of Sky and his work with recycled materials.  Sky is another example of excellence in Elkhart ISD.
