CENTERVILLE – The Lovelady Lions opened the postseason with a Bi-District game against the Wortham Bulldogs.

No strangers to the playoffs, Lovelady entered the game with a 5-4 overall record and was the number two seed out of District 12-2A DII.

On the other hand, Wortham had not ventured into the postseason since 2012 but as the game got underway, the lack of playoff experience didn’t seem to bother the Bulldogs.

Wortham kept it close and only trailed 18-12 with under three minutes to go in the first half. Unfortunately, that was when the Lions decided they had had enough and rattled off 29 unanswered points to take a 47-12 lead with 6:43 left in the third period.

The Lions put the game away in the fourth quarter as they coasted to the easy, 62-20 victory. The win moves Lovelady into the Area Round of the playoffs where they will face the Muenster Hornets on Friday, Nov. 22 at Van High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
