District 20-2A Cross Country Meet Results

Several Area Athletes Headed to Regionals

HOUSTON COUNTY – The District 20-2A Cross Country Meet was held on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and once the times were posted, the results showed several area runners will be advancing to the Regional Championships held in Huntsville on Oct. 28.

The district is comprised of: Centerville; Grapeland; Groveton; Latexo; Leon; Lovelady; and Slocum.

According to the UIL, “The top three teams and the top 10 individuals shall qualify from district to the regional meet. An individual qualifier may also be a team member of one of the qualifying teams.”

The distance for the cross-country event was approximately two miles for the girls and three miles for the boys.

The Varsity Girls’ results are as follows: 1. Bautista – Groveton 14:04; 2. Carrizalez – Leon 14.17; 3. Woods – Grapeland 14.31; 4. Sarraf – Slocum 14.31; 5. Antley – Groveton 14.38; 6. The team results showed: Groveton finishing first with 39 points, Slocum was second with 66 points and Centerville was third with 88 points. Latexo was fourth with 125 points and Grapeland was fifth with 135.

As a team, Slocum finished first with 36 points, Latexo was second with 62 points and Centerville was third with 70.

The Regional Cross Country Meet is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 28 at Kate Barr-Ross Park in Huntsville.
