CROCKETT – The Piney Woods Fine Arts Association (PWFAA) announced their 2019-2020 season lineup during a ribbon cutting for their new location on Thursday, July 18 at 603 E. Goliad, Suite 203.

The season starts off with a Special Event on Saturday, Sept. 28 as the Urban Cowboy Reunion Tour comes to town. The show will feature Mickey Gilley and Johnny Lee as they play their songs from the movie, “Urban Cowboy,” along with a ton of other hits.

Following the reunion tour and back by popular demand, the PWFAA will host the Piney Woods Oktoberfest featuring Brave Combo. The event will be held on Oct. 5 and starts at 7 pm.

The month of November will see the Bellamy Brothers flowing in to town with their “Love Still Flows” tour. The concert will be held at the Crockett Civic Center on Saturday, Nov. 16. A start time for the concert has not yet been announced.

As the holiday season approaches, the PWFAA will bring the Dallas String Quartet to town for their Holiday Show on Friday, Dec. 13.

After taking a break in the month of January, the PWFAA shows crank back up in February as Asleep at the Wheel rolls into Crockett on their “50th Anniversary” tour. The concert will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Also in February, the PWFAA will pay tribute to some of the greatest musicians to ever venture down Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. “One Night in Memphis” will feature musicians performing the works of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. The concert will be held on Feb. 22.

Shifting gears somewhat, the PWFAA will bring a little levity to the civic center as Jeanne Robertson graces the stage on her “Rocking Humor” tour on Saturday, March 7.

Also in March, the Piney Woods Music and Arts Festival will feature a Special Event as Roger Creager will perform on Saturday, March 21.

The season will draw to a close with another Special Event in April. Steve Wariner will bring his musical stylings to Crockett as part of his “Back on Life’s Highway” tour. The date and time have yet to be determined.

“Obviously, we determine our acts by who will be touring in our area,” PWFAA Executive Director Ann Walker said about the upcoming 2019-2020 season.

“We are very excited about the acts we were able to get. We thought we were very fortunate this year. We are very excited about the season and we think we have a great lineup and as well as a little bit of something for everybody,” she said.

Single tickets go on sale Aug. 26 while season tickets are on sale now. This year, Walker added, the PWFAA has what she called a bundle package.

“For $99, a person can get tickets to one special and two season events. You can’t get any better than that. We have already had a lot of excitement about the ‘Urban Cowboy’ tour so if you want to buy tickets to the ‘Urban Cowboy’ show, you might as well spend the extra money and get the two additional shows at the same time,” Walker said.
