Robbie Maxine Vickers Westbrook

Robbie Maxine Vickers Westbrook, age 91, of Kennard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend died on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, in Nacogdoches.  Robbie was born on May 25, 1927, in Center Hill, to parents, Robert and Myrtle Julian Vickers.  She graduated in 1943 from Kennard High School and moved to Houston where she worked for Western Union.  When her high school sweetheart, Glenn Westbrook, returned from service in World War II, they married on June 1, 1946 and moved back to Kennard where Glenn opened Harrison and Westbrook Garage.  Glenn and Robbie soon began raising their family – daughters, Janis and Regina, and son, Steven, and became very active in the First Baptist Church of Kennard.  “Miss” Robbie began serving as church treasurer in 1951 – and continued for 56 years.  She also served as church nursery director, taught Sunday school, directed many Vacation Bible Schools, led Senior Citizen fellowship, and visited home-bound members where she shared Bible Study and delicious food! “Miss” Robbie also was an active member of Crockett Chapter 509 Order of the Eastern Star for 28 years, where she served as Worthy Matron, Secretary, and in many other capacities.  “Miss” Robbie worked for many years at Home Savings and Loan Assn. in Crockett.  She was an active member of the Kennard Lions Club, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, and the reading program for second graders at Kennard Elementary School.  She enjoyed crocheting lap-robes for residents of Crockett Nursing Homes which she shared during her many visits there.

“Miss” Robbie was beloved by all who ever knew her.

“Miss” Robbie is survived by her children, Janis Knott and husband, John of Dallas, Regina Fenderson and husband, Steve of Gladewater, Dr. Steven Westbrook and wife, Dayna of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Zachary Knott and wife, Christina of Dallas, Rev. Alexandra Rodgers and husband, Keenan of Atlanta, GA, Adam Fenderson and wife, Erica of Broken Arrow, OK, Aaron Fenderson and wife, Megan of Stillwater, OK, Reed Westbrook of Joaquin, TX, Bryce Westbrook of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Elizabeth and James Knott of Dallas, Seth and Elinor Fenderson of Broken Arrow, OK, Thomas and Madeline Fenderson of Stillwater, OK.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Myrtle Vickers; her husband of 67 years, Glenn Westbrook; sister, Gladys Vickers Moore; brothers, Glynn Vickers, Donald Vickers; brother-in-law, James Westbrook.

Funeral Services for Robbie Maxine Vickers Westbrook were held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Kennard with Rev. Lynn Stroud and Rev. Jim Durham officiating.  Interment followed in the Corinth Cemetery.  Family received friends for visitation Saturday at 10 a.m. prior to service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Kennard, P.O. Box 277, Kennard, Texas 75847 or the Glenn and Robbie Westbrook Scholarship Fund, SFA Foundation, Office of Development, P.O. Box 6092, Nacogdoches, Texas 75962-6092.
