David A. “Scatter” Womack
May 5, 1935, David A. “Scatter” Womack opened his eyes. On May 13, 2018, he closed them surrounded by his loving family as he hopped on the Angel wings flying away to his heavenly home. He was greeted by his Dad and Mom, Dewey Lee, Sr. and Rita Beagley Womack; brother, Dewey Lee Womack, Jr.; sister, Lois Womack Heavner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Lee Knobles Pichot; brothers-in-law, George H. Measley, L. C. Smith and son-in-law, Leslie Sallee.
Leaving behind to celebrate his 83 years are the love of his life for 58 plus years Georgia “Tinker” Pichot Womack; daughters, Lynann Womack (Mike) Lawrence, Debbie Womack (John) Walters and Dyane Womack Sallee, special friend, Dallas Nicholson; grandchildren, Lyndsey, Kaci (JoJo), Jordan Taylyr, Laramie, Colt, Will, Rylee, Ayvery, Kynnedy, Karsyn; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Leighton, Adylyn, Joseph, Lynnon; sister, Barbara Sodhi; sister-in-law, Eva Pichot Smith; extended grandchildren, Jonathan, Adam, Devin, Alexis(Anthony), Lauren (Trent); extended great-grandchildren, Conner, Austin; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
David grew up in Pelly (now Baytown), Texas, being a 1954 graduate of Robert E. Lee, enlisting into the U. S. Marine Corps, proudly serving his country in Japan.
He then joined Humble Oil and Refinery (now Exxon Mobil) marketing department, retiring in 1990 after 30 plus years, receiving numerous awards, Hobbs Night of the Road, 3 Million Mile Driver Accident Free, plus others. After retirement, he decided to move to the farm and try his hand at ranching and was very successful at that for over 20 years as well.
A very active member of the Riverside United Methodist Church, and a Life Member of the Marine Corps League, Detachment 1433 of Houston County.
David was a man of few words, loved spending time with his family, friends, and being outdoors.
Services for David A. “Scatter” Womack of Weldon, were held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Weldon Baptist Church, 11812 FM 230, Lovelady, (Weldon) Texas, followed by full military services at the Weldon Cemetery.
The family wants to thank the Weldon Baptist Church for the use of their church for David’s services, Callaway-Allee Funeral Home, Marine Corps League, First Responders from the Weldon VFD, Judge Clyde Black, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Traditions Hospice, especially Jessica, R. N., caretakers, Burtis, Chiquita, Debbie, Faye, Gene and Venus, for their help and excellent care of our beloved Scatter.
Casual wear will be appropriate to celebrate Scatter’s life.
