EAST TEXAS – The Grapeland Sandies baseball season came to an end on Friday, May 4 as the Cushing Bear Kats eliminated the Sandies in a best-of-three series b a count of 2-0.

The Sandies fell in heartbreaking fashion during game one as they simply were unable to get their bats going. While the Sandie bats were quiet, the Grapeland defense was superb as they only allowed Cushing to score one run.

Unfortunately, that one run was all the Bear Kats needed as they shut out the Sandies by a final of 1-0.

Game two was not much better at the plate for Grapeland as they only scored one run. Cushing, on the other hand, plated nine runs to take down the Sandies by a final score of 9-1 as they advanced to the area round of the playoffs.

The Sandies finished their season with a record of 13-12 and claimed the District 21-AA championship.
