Boys Start Basketball Playoffs on Monday, Feb. 19

EAST TEXAS – District competition came to an end on Tuesday as the area boys’ teams wrapped things up and prepared for the playoffs starting on Feb. 19.

Many of the area teams are gearing up for a chance to travel the road to San Antonio and a shot at a state title. The first stop along the way will be the various Bi-District championships which start on Monday.

At the Class 4A level, the Palestine Wildcats will head into the postseason as the three seed from District 18-4A and will face the China Spring Cougars in the first round of the playoffs. The Cougars come into the game as the two seed from District 17-4A. The game will be played on Feb. 20 at Ennis High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.

In District 21-3A, the Crockett Bulldogs will head into the playoffs as the second seed. They will face the Woodville Eagles. The Eagles are the third seed from District 22-3A. The game will be played on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Angelina College in Lufkin. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.

In District 18-3A, the Westwood Panthers will head into the playoffs as the one seed and will face the Palmer Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are the four seed from District 17-3A. The game will be played on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Mabank High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Moving to the 2A level, the Grapeland Sandies were co-champs of District 20-2A, but lost a coin flip and will enter the playoffs as the two seed. The Sandies will play the Italy Gladiators in the first round of the postseason. The Gladiators are the three seed from District 19-2A. The game will be played on Monday, Feb. 19 at Fairfield High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Lovelady Lions will head into the playoffs as the three seed from District 20-2A. They will face the Kerens Bobcats in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. The Bobcats enter the game as the two seed from District 19-2A. The game will be played on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Leon High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

In District 19-2A, the Neches Tigers finished as the two seed and will face the San Augustine Wolves on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The game will be played at Wells High School and tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

At the Class 1A level, the Kennard Tigers will enter the playoffs as the three seed from District 28-1A and will face the two seed from District 27-1A.
