CROCKETT – The Piney Woods Fine Arts Association (PWFAA) is inviting those interested in attending the association’s winter gala to RSVP for the event, scheduled to take place at Park Hill Farm in Crockett at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

“PWFAA’s winter gala is our annual fundraiser event to raise money for the Arts in Education programs that benefit the school children of Houston County,” explained PWFAA Executive Director Glenn Barnhart.

According to Barnhart, the programs benefited by the association’s fundraising efforts expose children in the county to the performing arts “through nationally-touring theater programs, artists performing in the schools and the Houston County Youth Talent Showcase.”

Attendees of the gala, which Barnhart said PWFAA has been hosting annually for the past 27 years, will be served dinner and cocktails. Live and silent auctions will be taking place during the evening.

“The inspiration for the gala came from us needing a way to raise money,” he explained. “Since we are a non-profit, we rely heavily on patrons, the business community and corporate donors.

“We strive to have a wonderful gala where everyone can have fun and enjoy themselves while they bid on desserts, live auction items and participate in the raffle, all while having fun with their friends,” he continued.

Tickets for the gala may be purchased individually for $45. Tables with seating capacity for eight people may be reserved for $600. Cocktails will be served beginning at 6 p.m., and dinner will follow at 7 p.m. Those who attend are asked to dress in cocktail attire.

In addition to the winter gala, PWFAA also is preparing to welcome Larry Gatlin, a legendary country music singer and songwriter, to the stage of the Crockett Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.

“We are very excited to bring Larry Gatlin back to Crockett,” Barnhart said. “This is a show you don’t want to miss!”

Ticket prices start at $32, and purchases may be made through the PWFAA website or by calling the box office. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the performance.
