Wilma Lee Branch Curvey Sessions

Funeral services for Wilma Lee Branch Curvey Sessions, 91, of Grapeland, who quietly departed this earthly life in the early hours of Sunday, November 26, 2017, in Elkhart, Texas, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 at Brewington Baptist Church, Augusta, Texas.

The Rev. James “Nick” Coleman and the Rev. Marvin Green, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will follow in Post Oak Cemetery in Augusta, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Wilma was born June 27, 1926, to Will Branch and Udorah Oliver Branch. She grew up and attended school in Pattison, Texas. She was a Baptist and united with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at an early age. She moved to Houston and was a founding member of Greater St. Luke Baptist Church.

After moving to Augusta, Texas, she transferred her membership to Brewington Baptist Church. She loved Jesus and doing missionary work for the church.

Wilma was an exceptional parent to one daughter, Ella Curvey Green, and a son she had raised from the age of three months and preceded her in death, Napoleon Ward. She also loved helping people. Her joy was found in teaching young people how to be good workers at the Indian Mound Nursery and Grapeland Elementary School.

Wilma will be fondly remembered for her sweet personality, joyful demeanor, and her distinctive manner and style.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her sisters, Maggie Branch Wilkins, Mattie Branch Adams and Versa Mae Branch and husbands: Joe Hogan, the Rev. Napoleon Curvey, George Raymond Chase, Ora Hackett and the Rev. LT. Sessions.

Survivors include: a daughter, Ella Curvey Green; grandchildren, Michele Green-Clemmons and the Rev. Marvin Green, Jr. (Pamela); great-grandchildren, Kenneth Green, Dranoel Ross, Michella Clemmons, Jacobi Green, Brandon, Treyvon, Chantavia, Kameron and Jaylon; and one great-grandchild, Harlow Green. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends mourn her passing.

Special thanks to Elkhart Oaks Nursing Home and Hospice Plus. Mere words cannot adequately express the gratitude in our hearts for the excellent care and genuine love given to Wilma during her stay. Because of your caring and sharing, you lifted our hearts and made our burdens much lighter.
