Gwen Kelley Shaw

Gwen Kelley Shaw, age 87, of Crockett, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 in the Houston County Nursing Home. Gwen was born September 7, 1930 in Houston County to parents, Starks Kelley and Annie Lane Kelley. She worked at the ASCS office as program director and retired after 40 years then worked as secretary for the Davy Crockett Trinity Soil and Water Conservation District for 20 more years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Gwen was a servant and giver to her community, church, family and friends and was known as MeMe to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others who loved her. Everyone who was special to MeMe always had the pleasure of enjoying her delicious cooking and sweet gifts.

Gwen is survived by husband of 67 years, Jimmy Shaw of Crockett; daughters, Tricia Shaw Brown and husband, Carl of Crockett, Judy Shaw Leediker and husband, Jimmy of Pennington; grandchildren, Angie Osborne and husband, Mikey of Crockett, Meg Jordan and husband, Jessie of College Station; Brad Leediker and wife, Angela of Groveton; great-grandchildren, Baylee and Corbin Osborne, Brayden Leediker; numerous other loving relatives; special caretaker, Judy Reynolds of Kennard. She was preceded in death by parents, Starks and Annie Kelley; sister, Alverta Anderson and husband, Clifton; brothers, Herschel Kelley and wife, Elrine, Fount W. Kelley and wife, Margaret.

Funeral services for Gwen Kelley Shaw were held Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mikey Osborne, Rev. John Goss and Rev. Charles Butler officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Family received friends for visitation Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
