District 20-2A All District Selections Released

GRAPELAND – With the conclusion of the 2016-2017 UIL State Basketball Tournament, the All-District picks for District 20-2A were released.

Selected as Co-MVP’s of the district were Grapeland Sandies Tink McQuirter and Parker Wilson

The Offensive MVP of District 20-2A was Lovelady Lion Hunter Murray.

The Defensive MVP of District 20-2A was Grapeland Sandie Riley Chipman. Chipman was also selected to the 2017 UIL State All-Tournament Team.

The First Team All-District Selections for District 20-2A were Grapeland Sandies Rodney Davis and Rick Frauenberger.

Lovelady Lions Colt Robinson and Jay Robinson were also selected to the First Team squad.

The Big Sandy Wildcats were represented on the First Team All-District selections by Samuel Richards and Aaron Thompson.

Centerville Tiger Hunter Free was also selected for First Team honors.

The Second Team All-District selections for District 20-2A included: Grapeland Sandies Kamari Smith and Tyrin Wiley; Latexo Tiger Sonny Townsend; Big Sandy Wildcats Britton Dickens and Isaiah Thompson; and Groveton Indians Saul Chavez and Eli Hardeman.

The Messenger would like to extend its congratulations to all the young men on the list for a very enjoyable 2016-2017 basketball season and for a job well done.
