Eva Mae Hassell Parsons

Funeral services for Eva Mae Hassell Parsons, 95, of Alto will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 3:00 p.m.at the Lynches Chapel Methodist Church in Alto with Bro. Raymond Vermillion officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynches Chapel Cemetery in Alto.

Eva Mae was born February 25, 1921 in Cherokee County to the late Thomas Albert Hassell and Mattie (Foster) Hassell. She left her earthly home to join her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. She spent most of her life in Alto. Eva Mae was married to McDonald Parsons on October 25th 1941. They were married for 58 years. Eva Mae was retired from AMF of Jacksonville, Texas . She was the Shipping Supervisor for 16 years. After retirement, she was a homemaker and loved to cook big meals for her family and friends. She was well known in the community for her delicious caramel pies. She was an avid quilter, having made many treasures for her kids and grandkids. She also loved gardening and canning her fresh vegetables. She was affectionately called Granny, and she loved and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eva Mae was a member of the Lynches Chapel Methodist Church of Alto for many years.

Eva Mae leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons and daughter-in-laws, Don and Jane Parsons of Rusk, Texas and Larry and Laverne Parsons of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Patti McStay and husband Mike of Fort Worth, Texas, Tim Parsons and wife Lori of Mckinney, Texas, Brett Parsons and wife Taryn of Fort Collins, Colorado and Scott Parsons and wife Bethany of Haddon Township, New Jersey; great-grandchildren, Erica McStay of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Lexi McStay of Austin, Texas, Cole McStay of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Logan and Luke Parsons of Mckinney, Texas, and Cambry and Callie Parsons of Fort Collins, Colorado. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, McDonald Parsons, brothers, T. A. Hassell, Leroy Hassell, and R. L. Hassell.

Pallbearers will be Tim Parsons, Brett Parsons, Scott Parsons, Mike McStay, Taylor Huff and Landon Huff. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Hassell, Glenn Hassell, Cal Hassell, Cole McStay, Logan Parsons, Luke Parsons, Stuart Anderson, Elvin Peacock, Freddie Wallace, and Farrell Gregston.

Memorials may be made to Lynches Chapel Methodist Church P.O. Box 483, Alto, Texas 75925. Memories and Condolences may be offered at O. T. Allen and Son Funeral Home, Alto, Texas. The family will receive friends from 2p.m. until service time at Lynches Chapel Methodist Church of Alto, Texas.
