Palestine Lady Cats off to a Good Start

EUSTACE – The Palestine Lady Cats were on the road Thursday, Aug. 16 as they took part in the Eustace Volleyball Tournament.

The Lady Cats were 2-1 in pool play on Thursday which brings their overall record to 6-5.

“We lost to Trinidad in two (22-25, 24-26),” Head Coach Janae Evans reported. “Destiny Mathews had 10 kills and Ka’Zem Wood had 10 assists.”

In the second game of the day, the Lady Cats beat the Mildred Lady Eagles in three games by a score of 25-20, 13-25 and 25-21. Shayla Arthur had six kills, Destiny Mathews had five kills and Ja’Bria Simmons had four kills. Arthur and Raina Hanzik both had six digs, according to the coach.

Their third match of the day also went three games.

“We defeated Mineola in three – 24-26, 25-17 and 25-21. Shayla had 11 kills, Destiny added seven and JaBria had four kills. KaZem has six digs and seven assists as well as five aces from the serving line. Ke’ondra White had seven digs,” Evans said.

Palestine resumed bracket play on Saturday in Eustace, but as of press time, the scores were unavailable.
