CROCKETT – Among the events taking place during the annual Davy Crockett Festival in downtown Crockett will be a yard sale hosted by the Coalition for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty (CPAC).

“The Chamber is donating a space for us to have up there,” explained Lori Bowlin of CPAC. “We’re taking garage sale items – anything anyone wants to donate for that.”

The sale will be held at 113 S. Grace St. in Crockett beginning at 8 a.m. Friday-Saturday, May 4-5 and beginning at noon Sunday, May 6.

“(We’ll be there) all day long – until people stop coming or the sun goes down,” Bowlin said of the sale’s duration. “We’re not going to shut down until one or the other.”

Donations are currently being accepted, Bowlin said.

“I’m asking people to call the CPAC number, and we’ll organize a drop location,” she explained.

Bowlin said this year’s sale is the third one to be hosted by the organization.

“On an average, we’re right around $1,000,” said Bowlin of the money raised through previous sales. “So, it’s one of our better fundraisers.”

According to Bowlin, proceeds raised through the sale will benefit “the continued efforts in Houston County.

“It covers our microchips, our vaccinations, if we have to purchase puppy formula or kitten formula,” said Bowlin. “There’s so much. It’s a day by day, dog by dog, animal by animal (basis).”

For more information or to schedule a drop-off for donated items, contact the CPAC at 401-400-2722.
