HORACE MCQUEEN: We are the “Backwards” Majority

Defeated presidential candidate Hillary Clinton can’t get over losing her quest for the office. Now she claims the “backwards” parts of America where “you don’t like black people getting rights; you don’t like women, you know, getting jobs; you don’t want to, you know, see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are.”

She also blames “married white women” who supported Mr. Trump because they weren’t able to stand up to “a sort of ongoing pressure to vote the way your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should.” So now she is showing her true colors—and her disdain for the “deplorables” that voted against her! Whether it’s a sports contest, a livestock show, or a political race for all the marbles, there are winners — and losers. The winner gets the trophy–the losers go home empty handed!

Have you noticed grocery store ads that tout their 100 percent Texas beef? A major player in this 100 percent American, 100 percent Texas promotion is Nolan Ryan branded beef. According to the company behind this merchandising effort, the meat products come from Texas farms and ranches. None comes from other states or foreign lands. As a side note about meat sales, food experts at Oklahoma State University are asking if consumers have much knowledge about their ground meat purchases. Over one-third of the respondents believe a pound of hamburger meat comes from only one animal. But, that is far from being the truth. OSU food technologists say that one hamburger patty is a “mix” of meat from at least 100 head of cattle—and more like 1,000 head!

Amy Wax is a professor with the University of Pennsylvania Law School. In a speech at Hillsdale College in Arkansas recently, Ms. Wax commented on the change in “cultural norms” in the U.S. since the end of World War II. At that time, she said it was “normal” to “Get married before you have children and strive to stay married for their sake. Get the education you need for gainful employment, work hard, and avoid idleness. Go the extra mile for your employer or client. Be a patriot, ready to serve the country. Be neighborly, civic-minded, and charitable. Avoid coarse language in public. Be respectful of authority. Eschew substance abuse and crime.”

What a change from what is happening today!
