Edith Bartee Van Horne

Edith Bartee Van Horne passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Methodist Hospital in Baytown.  Edith was born October 24, 1942 in Lovelady to parents, Spencer Kyle Bartee and Elva Bernice Buchanan Bartee.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also a member of the Pearson Chapel Baptist Church.  Edith loved her family and always enjoyed when they were all together.  She missed her husband Russell since 2007, reuniting with him in Heaven on their anniversary March 17th.   

Edith is survived by daughters, Tammy Millstid and Troy South of LaPorte, Teresa and Robert Morfenski of Lovelady, Tracy Hensley and Wayne Bunch of Deer Park; grandchildren, Savanah and Robin Adams of Pasadena, Patrick and Victoria South of The Woodlands, Amanda McKee and Randy Hunt Jr. of Lovelady, Kimberly and Tyler Reed of Lovelady, Brittany Hensley and Dalton Roberts of Brazoria; great-grandchildren, Adeline Kate, Maggie Mae, Chloe, Luna, Randy III, Chelsea, Jayce, Madden, Bryson, Kaydence, Russell, Rhett, Vance, and Harper; sister-in-law, Marion Dacus of Beaumont; brother-in-law, Richard Purcell and wife, Edwina of Mont Belvieu; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.  

She was preceded in death by husband, Russell Van Horne; parents, Spencer and Elva Bartee; brothers and sisters, Orland Ray Bartee, Anna Ruth Bartee Ellis, Albena Bartee Zinante, Earle Bartee Otto, Patsy Ann Bartee Willingham, Alma Lee Drake, Merle Bartee Jatzlau. 

Funeral services for Edith Bartee Van Horne were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Bob Gunnels and Pastor Joe Dacus officiating. Interment followed at the Creek Cemetery. Visitation began at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
