GRAPELAND – Grapeland Police Department (GPD) arrested four people and seized several illegal substances after a disturbance call reported fighting between two individuals at a Grapeland residence.
GPD arrived at the residence on Howard Street, to speak with the residents about complaints about noise and apparent fighting. Arriving at the residence, officers immediately noticed the smell of marijuana. Resident Rhonda Smith allowed GPD officer to enter the residence to contact Cy Jones, who allowed GPD Chief Dale Linebaugh to enter the room, where he found Jones and Neomi Lopez.
Asked about the strong smell of marijuana coming from the room, Jones showed officers a green, leafy substance and confirmed it was a “bud” of marijuana. Linebaugh asked all occupants of the house to step outside, in order to search the residence.
Once a search warrant was obtained, GPD officers found what they suspected to be marijuana, along with several bottles of pills of different shapes, along with scales with traces of a green, leafy substance.
In the closet of another room, officers found a crystal-like substance in a closet, which they suspected of being methamphetamine. In yet another bedroom, officers found a spoon, jar and other traces of a crystal-like substance, also suspected of being methamphetamine. More pills and a pipe with a similar residue was also located.
GPD arrested all four residents and they were charged with possession of the various items. Jones, Lopez, Smith and resident Gary McDaniel were taken to Houston County Jail. As of press time, their bond and status were unknown.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
