CROCKETT – Crockett Police Department (CPD) arrested a local man accused of stealing batteries from USPS (United States Postal Service) vehicles at the Crockett Post Office, located at 600 East Goliad.
CPD explained the arrest in a statement, saying:
“On May 4, at about one a.m., CPD officers responded to the US Post Office in reference to a possible burglary in progress.
Officers arrived to find that two of the USPS delivery vehicles parked at the post office had their hoods pried open and the batteries stolen from within. The officers learned that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle prior to their arrival.
Over the course of the next several days, detectives were able to identify the suspect in the case as Angel Daniel Reyes Jr. (age 60, from Crockett). Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Reyes for Burglary of a Vehicle (Class A Misdemeanor) and he was arrested for the warrant on May 14.”
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
